The Temple of the Elk
The Temple of the Elk was built by Taldori settlers in an age long forgotten. The temple is some 300-ft tall. Its edifice is a gigantic stone elk head, whose horns make up the structural support of the temple’s egress.
The cleric Jhod Kavken had a vision of the temple and the corrupted bear that cursed it. This vision brought Jhod from a self-imposed exile on a quest to cleanse and reclaim the holy ground.
Jhod joined with the adventurers to battle the corrupted grizzly guarding the temple. The battle was climactic and harrowing—worshipers of Erastil were infused with the god’s might, and could even hear the footfalls of the Grim White Stag as he oversaw the contest. After defeating the temple guardian the bear dissolved into the form of a man which desiccated and blew away. The signs of corruption visibly faded and the hidden temple immediately teemed with healthy vegetation, clean water, and wildlife.
Upon investigating the ruins, Ser Bannon uncovered the secret of the temple’s curse. The cleric left to steward the abandoned temple went slowly mad after year of defended the sacred ground from Trolls and other savage creatures. He offered a bear as a sacrifice to Lamashtu. Either the demoness, or Erastil himself, must have seen fit to curse the cleric for his efforts.
Jhod has sworn to reconsecrate the temple that it may serve as a beacon for Erastil’s enduring strength in the Stolen Lands.
